Why we built Sitestack
We run a construction company ourselves. Here's why the software we could find was either no good or priced for firms five times our size, and why we built our own.
Sitestack started as an internal tool. We run JLS Building and Property Development, a family-run construction company, and like every contractor we know, we were running jobs across WhatsApp groups, email chains, and a folder of photos on someone's phone that never made it back to the office.
We looked at what was out there. The site management software that worked well was priced for national contractors: day rates and enterprise contracts that don't make sense for a firm doing a handful of jobs a year. The stuff priced for firms our size was clunky, missing half of what we needed, or both.
So we built what we wanted for ourselves. A proper site diary, a photo record that's organised by job, a snag list that doesn't live in someone's notes app, and a way for clients to see progress without a dozen WhatsApp messages a week. Once it was working for us, it was obvious other firms our size needed the same thing.
That's Sitestack. It's built by people who are on site, not just people who write software. If something's missing or annoying, tell us. We're using it too.
